PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking the King of the West Series point lead into the Bullring Nationals at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Carson Macedo saw a great night take a turn for the worst during the 30-lap feature event.
“We had an awesome night going, and then the feature event came around, and anything that could go wrong, did,” Macedo explained.
With 28 cars filling up the pit area for the King of the West Series’ final event of the season at the famed Placerville Speedway, Macedo kicked his night off by getting the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./WFO Apparel No. 21x machine timed in fastest overall during qualifications.
Finishing third in his heat race, the Lemoore, CA driver drew the one for the Dash, and went on to pick up the Dash win to earn the right to lead the field to green for the 30-lap feature event aboard the Executive Auto Sales/Tachi Palace and Casino/Pabco Gypsum backed machine.
Sharing the front row with Kyle Hirst, Macedo would not get off to the start he was looking for as he slipped to fourth in the early goings of the feature event. Chasing after Hirst and Shane Golobic, Macedo would look to capitalize on Golobic’s misfortune. As Golobic slowed, Macedo was on the inside of him and with Golobic veering to the infield, contact ensued and Macedo was forced into the work area.
With his crew doing what they could to get Macedo’s machine on the track, Macedo would make the call to restart, but his machine was still beat up. From the back of the pack, Macedo would do what he could to fight forward.
In the closing laps of the race Macedo ran in the 15th spot, and was just looking to finish, but as he came to the checkered flag contact ensued with another car and his machine got upside down, and he came up short of the finish line, and ended up with a 17th place finish.
“It was just a tough way to end what started out as such a good night,” Macedo added. “I really have to thank this entire team for working so hard, and giving me such a strong car, again.”
Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., WFO Apparel, Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.
ON TAP: Macedo will be back aboard his Tarlton Racing machine this Saturday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA for the Peter Murphy Classic.
